Kim Sobat

An abstract and impressionist painter living on the coast of North Carolina, Kim's oil and acrylic paintings have been described by many as evocative, eliciting strong emotions and memories that captivate and engage.

Kim begins each piece a with strong composition, which acts as a road map allowing the viewer to explore without getting lost. Paying particular attention to balance, Kim follows her instincts and whims, allowing the process of painting to take her on an introspective journey.  The desired result is a mix of sentimental and a touch of the macabre...her own unique viewpoint in the contemporary art scene.

Kim enjoys cooking everything from colorful, exotic dishes to grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  While she loves to travel, she is admittedly bad at relaxing and consequently drawn to large cities for their energy, grittiness, and numerous cultural offerings.
